Think about:

  • What is the new development that August tells Miles about?

  • How could this affect August and Miles?

  • What should Miles do?

Reading: 'The Boy in the Biscuit Tin' by Heather Dyer

We have been using predicting as a strategy to help us get out minds ready for reading. Here are our predictions about what we think will happen in this novel...

Once we have finished reading this novel we will come back and let you know how accurate our predictions were.

Reflections on our Learning...

Today I learnt:

Rhys- How to do less fouls during 'Bat Down' by not swinging the bat off to the left or the right.

Tavia- How to check if a number is a multiple of three by splitting the number and then adding the digits. Eg. For the number 306 I would split it into 3 + 0 + 6 which equals 9, and then I would divide the 9 by 3.

Iose- How to dodge the ball during 'Bat Down' by looking at where and when the fielders were going to throw the ball, and stopping to avoid the ball.

Jack- What 'characters' were in reading. Not the characters who are the people in the story, but 'characters' as in the number of letters and spaces in a text message.

Ruby- How to field properly by spreading out and following the person who is running.

Ben- How to hit the ball properly in 'Bat Down'. I learnt by watching what other people did when they were batting.

Check Out How Fast We Can Work With BIG Numbers!!!

This short video shows one of our maths groups showing off how fast they can add and subtract from numbers with up to 6 digits.....

You may have noticed that there are children from Room 30 in these videos. This is because the teachers from  Rooms 30 and 38 have been co-teaching our numeracy programme. Co-teaching allows for better grouping for students (as there are more students learning at their own level) and allows for students to experience a wider variety of teachers and teaching styles to help them with their learning.

Welcome to Room 38's Class Blog!

This year we will spend a lot of our time in "The Learning Pit". As we are a team remember that we are all here to help each other find the steps to climb out the other side!
