Matthews key design

My key design was made at my grandads home. I had to go to his house after school and he has a lot of old keys, wood, and spray paint. so I asked "Hay grandad, can I use some keys wood and spray paint?" Then I told him why and he let me do it. Step 1 : put keys on wood in a design you want. Step 2: spray paint over design in a colour you like. Step 3: leave to dry. Step 4: Once dry tip keys off and examine your design and see what it looks like. The end. By Matthew Room 25 OH and step 5: KEEP IT OUT OF THE HOUSE, IT STINKS!!!!!!!

Matthews 20 hour famine no talking

My 20 hour famine no talking was horrible. My brother was hitting and pinching, scratching and punching me the hole time. I felt helpless not being able to speak. So I didn't, I used writing to talk. I couldn't wait till it finished. And when it did I was running around saying "Yay I can talk again!" It was so good to talk again, but still, MY BROTHER WAS STILL HITTING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!            The end. By Matthew Room 25

Matthew's Chess Tournament

My first chess tournament. It was my first year playing chess. I was third on the leader board and was in the A team for chess. It was held at Russley School and there were teams from everywhere, luckily I didn't have to play them all. I was in a team with Oliver, Adin, Ryan, we all played well and we won! It was my first chess tournament and we won. I felt proud of myself and the team. But I didn't realize I had to play at two more tournaments! The end. Matthew's 1000 Metre Swim

My 1000 metre swim took place at Graham Condon. It was tiring, doing free style 40 lengths of the 25 metre pool. I did it on the exact day as my brother did the Weet-bix tryathlon. And on my last lap the most unusual thing happened, I found a set of keys on the bottom of the pool. So I took them to my dad after I did my last lap. "I found a set of keys, what do I do?" I asked "See if it is that mans," I quickly glanced over to see a old man putting his head under the water looking for something. I dive into the pool with the keys and say "Are these yours?" I asked holding up the keys. "Oh thank you young man!" he said and then I hoped out of the pool and went to get changed. The end. By Matthew room 25

Author Visit for Book Week!

Today we had a visit from Heather McQuillan to help us celebrate our Book Week. Heather is a published author and she came to talk to us about the writing process, and what it's actually like when you get to publish a book.

We found out that it took Heather 4 years to write her first novel, and then she had to wait another whole year for it to be published!!! Heather also told us about how she has had to be determined with her writing and not give up, even when she received rejection letters from some publishers.

How Good Are We at Writing Descriptions?

Room 25 have been writing descriptions about a blue monster that Miss Hygate showed us in a picture. Today we read our descriptions to our Room 12 buddies to see if they could draw the monster based on our writing. We found out that a lot of us need to improve our descriptive writing as we left out important things like how many arms or legs the monster had!

Our Science Experiment 26 Days On!

On the 21st of February we set up an experiment to see what would happen to a 10c coin when we left it in a glass of Coke, a glass of Sprite, a glass of V-energy Drink and a glass of plain old water.

We had heard rumours that the 10c piece would dissolve in the Coke and we wanted to see if this was true. This is day 26 of our experiment and so far all of the 10c pieces are still in one piece, so much for that rumour!

Although our experiment didn't do what we thought it would, we have made some interesting observations about the changes that have happened over the past 26 days:

  • All the liquids in the glasses have gone down and therefore the glasses are less full. This is because the liquids have evapourated.
  • All the coins are the same size and shape, even after being in the liquid for more than 3 weeks!
  • The Sprite has turned from clear to blue??!!
  • The V-energy drink has turned dark brown (ewwwwww)
  • A dead fly was floating in the Coke (double ewwwwwwwwww!!!)
